I have noticed that a lot of the people who exercise in the gyms are very fit and looking great. There are also some people who have to lose weight and work there too. Most of them though feel like they just don't belong there. I also have some overweight friends who refuse to go with me saying that we shouldn't go to the gym, just because we are not fit. What do you think about this? Is this a normal way of seeing the gym? Should only fit people go there?

I don't think that the Gym is only for good looking people, but I fee ashame going in a Gym because I 'm too concious of my body. I don't like the idea of anyone seeing me doing any workout in public. I guess that I will just stay at home exercising.

When I use to go to the gym regularly there were all kinds of people there. Yes many were in very good shape. However there were also often larger people there too... I think it is a nice to see that bigger people are trying to loose weight, it is inspiring.:)

I remember when I went into the Gym. I saw a lot of different people there. Some of those people are fat, some thin, rich. You should not care about the people doing there exercise on a gym because they are just like you that is trying to get fit. They don’t care about you!

We have the same thing in the gym I work out in. I have seen some slender women and very nicely fit guys and still there was place for us, the chubby ones. The thing I liked the most was that no one there ever looked at us in a scornful way, no one made bad jokes. We got appreciative smiles and some of the fit people would sometimes even chat to us and congratulate us for the good effort. It all depends on the people and how civil they are, in the end. There is enough room for us all.

Well , the gym for sure isn`t just for good looking people , I know that a lot of people think that it`s a shame to go there if you`re not good looking..but let`s think ....is more important our body , our condition , we`ll do this just for us to feel better , to be proud after will see the results.

I think it depends on the gym, perhaps some do have a tendency to be like that. It may also be different at different times of the day or on different days. If you don't feel comfortable maybe it would be worth looking around for a different gym. In the town where I live we have a fitness club just for women and some of the gyms have special beginner sessions, etc.

Of course it's not only for good looking people. But, when you see so many muscles per square metre, you feel intimidated. I'd probably do my workout at home if I feel uncomfortable about my looks...

Definitely not! However, I do see more fit people as well, but it does make sense, doesn't it? If everyone at the gym were overweight, that would certainly be very discouraging, because that means no one is improving!

Anyone that goes to the gym has only one concerned on their mind and that is to become healthy and fit. We can’t be fit by just looking at people at the gym. We got to move and sweat a lot. I hope that this answer will get some people realized that the gym is for everyone.
