If you eat food for comfort, you need to find out why you do this. You need to go to the roots of the problem, because losing weight won't make you happy. Did you ever heard of such a case? Some people don't realize the true issue, like an abuse or a depression. They think that because of overeating they became depressed, but the truth was that they were depressed from the start.

I am not an emotional eater and I advise everyone who suspects they might be to search help because it can lead to serious illness. Hyperphagia - I believe it is called.
Whenever I feel emotional I chew gum or drink a glass of fresh fruit juice... or browse the net or read a book...

I'm not an emotional eater by nature and I know my limits. But on some days when something very nice happens, or when I achieve something, I go on and reward myself with some sweets like cakes, muffins, or chocolate. I don't think that qualifies, does it?

I am more prone to eat more when I am content, but I try to keep an eye on my weight. At the times of greatest sadness or unhappiness in my life I have lost weight. When my husband died I lost quite a lot of weight but I got back to normal in the end. I think to some extent we are all affected by our emotions, we just need to be aware of it.

I try not to be like that.
I see on tv that women eat ice cream to feel better :) It doesn't work for me anymore.
If i have the wish to do this i say to myself that it really doesn't help me if i ust put on some extra weight, i better go running or something to easy my mind.

Well, I eat a lot of food when Chelsea loses a match or when I'm bored. I'm not hungry, but I eat anyway. When I get full, I just keep eating anyway, I can't stop. Probably instead of "eating my feelings" I could go to the gym, but it's kinda hard to stop eating once I start. It’s a comfort thing, I guess.

About that ice cream cure, I would totally go for that like the women on TV except that I actually get sick if I eat too much ice cream at once. The thing is, I can't eat cold things fast but with ice cream, if you take your time it melts and I don't like it that way. I suppose it's a pretty good way of preventing emotional eating.

I think that I’m one of those few people who are emotional eater because I tend to overeat whenever I’m sad. I hope that I could change this attitude because this will never help on my goals in life. Do you have any suggestions on how can I get rid of this feeling?

I am not an emotional eater, I just like tasty food a lot. And I used to eat when working on my PC and this helps with eating a lot and not feeling you ate that much. Not I eat only the normal meals and eat an apple or something when I feel the need to snack.

I used to eat when I wasn't feeling well, when I was depressed, when I was tired or needed something to eat when watching TV. Now I try to eat when I am hungry, not out of pain, anger or any other feelings that drove me to the fridge years ago
